Gadaffi the Urban Myth

Gadaffi the Urban Myth – the latest English National Opera (ENO) production opens this week at the Coliseum. Music is by the Asian Dub Foundation and choreography by Hakeem Onibudo – founder of hip hop company Impact Dance.  It has been something of  a change of direction for him

Although the publicity says Gadaffi highlights their ‘commitment to commissioning high-quality work ­ with a cross-cultural and contemporary relevance’ Artistic Director John Berry is quite open about the fact that it is hoped that this will be a lure for new audiences: “The word opera is a major problem with potential audiences.
