EDge
The Postgraduate Performance Group of London Contemporary Dance School based at The Place.
Company Policy

EDge offers a group of postgraduate performers the possibility to develop their
skills as dance artists in an intensely creative environment.
The postgraduate performance course is designed for students who have achieved
an exceptional standard in technique and who will benefit from advanced training.
The dancers are drawn from graduates of London Contemporary Dance School and similar
academies across the world.
EDge offers postgraduate performers the chance to work across media and styles as contemporary dancers, offering an experience accurately reflecting the breadth of the industry and their futures within it. Traditionally, a major part of EDge's activity is to work with high-calibre professional dance choreographers & an artistic director, touring programmes of original work and repertory to venues nationally and internationally. In additional to this touring, EDge engage in a broad variety of other projects, exploring the creative process, using dance film, professional improvisational work or site-specific choreography. This allows further collaboration with other organisations and artists across the industry.

EDge is an international company of dancers embarking on their professional careers.
The 2008 Company includes dancers from all over the UK as well as wider Europe
and Asia. The 2008 tour will be performed from March to July 2008 with a programme
featuring new choreography by Fillip Van Huffel and Rosemary Lee. Choreographer
Gabriela Tropier will be collaborating with a film maker to work with EDge, producing
a piece of work to be used selectively during the tour. Each year, The Leche
Trust commission four emerging choreographers to make short new works to form
part of the EDge repertory programme. For the 2008 tour, these choreographers
will be Rachel Krische, Petra Soor and Martin Forsberg and Beth Cassani.
Rosemary Butcher will be working with EDge to explore techniques, tools and the
development of the creative process. This may culminate in a sharing or site specific
piece, not expected to be performed as part of the repertory tour.
Also in 2008, EDge will be participating in The Reading Room Project, produced
by Turtle Key Arts. This will be a piece of collaborative work of multiple art
forms, featuring new writing from Anthony Minghella, choreography by Jonathan
Lunn and design by Peter Mumford. EDge will perform the choreography within the
piece at a selection of the larger tour venues.
