Type of work
Comedy Dance Theatre for traditional theatre spaces and also specially devised work for specific contexts.

Company Policy
New Art Club creates original new works of dance-based art that are intelligent, beautiful, funny and engaging, and that have a positive and memorable affect upon audiences. The company questions preconceptions of dance performance and presentation, and the company's use of movement, text, comedy, costume and props has evolved into a unique theatre style that is as immediate and direct in its appeal, as it is fascinating

Review extracts

'Unpretentiously funny.' The Times

'Absurd and brilliant debunkers of postmodern dance.' The Guardian

'Roden and Shenton caper gleefully along the dividing line between lunacy and genius.' The Herald

Production highlights
The Electric Tales
The secrets of the electromagnetic world are mined for dances, stories and, of course, jokes.

Dances, Jokes and Dance Jokes
An everchanging minimalist dance comedy overlaid with stories and jokes about the fictionalised domestic life of Tom and Pete

The Short Still Show
A wry look at the use of stillness and movement in creating a dance piece.

Another One
A solo dance which deconstructs what the dance is made of. Repeating, combining and recombining 4 words and a series of gestures, it is a simple idea which unfolds complex meanings

this is MODERN
Comedy dance theatre that boldly storms through the history of contemporary dance.

The Not Cracker
A collection of songs and dances tell the story of an aspirant angel that fails to graduate from Angel College. New Art Club's alternative to traditional Christmas theatrical fayre..

Education
New Art Club think that everyone that wants to, can dance, choreograph and enjoy and benefit from dance as an art form. They believe that choreography is an easy, accessible artistic discipline that can be practised by all. With this in mind, as part of their touring, a range of education and community activities are available for booking with the company.

New Art Club create a safe, supportive environment for people to work in. With an inclusive and demystifying approach to skills-based sessions, their work aims to have a memorable and important effect on the creative and physical development of people as artists.

New Art Club can tailor work for age ranges 8 - 11yrs, 11 - 16yrs, 16 - 18yrs and groups of 18yrs +. Group sizes should be a maximum of 30 students, for which the company can offer sessions per half-day, full day or week long residences.
