National Youth Dance Festival now... U.Dance England

U.Dance England is the new national youth dance performance event for groups of young people aged 11 to 19, which will take place every two years from 2010.  The 2010 performance will take place on Sunday 4th July at the Birmingham Hippodrome.

2010 will see the first U.Dance England event, previously known as the National Youth Dance Festival.  Between 2005 and 2008 there were four National Youth Dance Festivals, each hosted by a different region, where youth dance groups from across the country were selected at regional events to perform at a national dance house.  Find out more about the 2008 event which took place in London here.  The 2010 event is being hosted by the West Midlands and DanceXchange, based at the Birmingham Hippodrome.

How does it work?
Only one youth dance group from each of the 9 regions across the country will be selected to take part in the final event in Birmingham.  In the run up to July each region will host a selection event between January and March, where shortlisted applicants from their region will be invited to perform in front of a panel of judges and one group will be chosen go through to perform in Birmingham.

Who runs these events?
U.Dance is coordinated by Youth Dance England, the national organisation working to support and develop youth dance activities across the country.  London Youth Dance in partnership with Sadler's Wells is responsible for organising the London selection event.
