This new space, designed by architect Ed Frith of Moving Architecture, is in Hackney's latest creative quarter, Clarence Mews, E5. A double height glazed wall provides excellent natural light and access to a private courtyard garden. The space has been created for choreographer, Caroline Salem.
SUPPORTING CHOREOGRAPHERS, PERFORMANCE MAKERS, NEW WORK
Since 2003 Caroline Salem has been running professional development programmes which aim to provide choreographers / performance makers with the best environment for the research, development and production of new work. Each scheme combines beautiful working space with stimulating dialogue with fellow artists, the option of mentor support and the opportunity to present work to an invited audience at the end of the programme. Professional development programmes run continuously through out the year and range from 1 week to 12 months.

CREATIVE SPACE @ CLARENCE MEWS
October-December/ January-March/ April-June/ July-September
Personal studio time combines with dialogue, feedback, optional mentoring, studio presentations
Over this 10 week period each choreographers/performance maker will set up their own studio schedule [consisting of minimum* 10 x 3hr sessions] and also meet together 5 times to show and discuss work. In these meetings each Artist/ Company takes control of how they want to share their work / process and how the chance for regular dialogue with others can support their work, the meetings are facilitated by Caroline Salem.
The programme culminates in 3 days of studio presentations for audiences invited by the artists. Individual creative support/ mentoring can also be requested.
FEE: £210, payments can be made weekly or in whatever way helps affordability [* extra sessions can be scheduled at £19.50/3hrs]
Fee covers costs of space for your 30 hours of studio time, the meetings, the final 3 days of presentations and Caroline's support as meeting facilitator.
