CHANTRAINE DANCE OF EXPRESSION
Venue
There are two branches of the Chantraine School in London.
One is based in North West London: Swiss Cottage, South and West Hampstead. The
other is in Wanstead, E11.
Style
The Chantraine Dance of Expression, created by Alain and Françoise Chantraine
in France, includes the main styles - contemporary, classical and jazz - and the
dances of other cultures, but its aim is for students to develop in all aspects
of dance: rhythm, inner understanding of movement, technique, creativity and choreography,
so going beyond style alone.
Ages
4-Adult. No limit.
InformationThe Chantraine approach is to dance as an unlimited expressive art involving the whole person, and for increasing energy and joy. Each class includes the aspects of dance mentioned above (under 'Style') and therefore provides the variety of experience that an all-round dancer needs. There is a wide and exciting repertoire of choreographies and students also create dances. Regular classes are held for all ages from 4 years to adult without age limit, with workshops, opportunities for performance and annual Festivals.
